Massage Styles

Swedish:
The most common form of massage in America is Swedish massage. It is used mainly to relax, increase oxygen and blood flow, and release toxins from the body. It increases circulation while reducing blood pressure. Swedish massage also stimulates and soothes the skin and nervous system while focusing on reducing both emotional and physical stress.

Myofascial release:
Fascia is a web-like network of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone and nerve cell. This technique pays close attention to any rifts or abnormalities in this tough material. This is a highly effective form of bodywork for dealing with injuries and stress patterns in the body which can eventually lead to a long list of complaints if not addressed.

Pre and Post Natal:
When scheduling your massage make sure you clarify what stage of pregnancy you are in. Every woman’s needs are unique. Please make note of any strain or physical discomfort pertaining to your pregnancy and any other important information in order to more efficiently tailor the massage to your specific needs.

Reflexology:
This time tested technique utilizes pressure to specific points on the foot to provide an anesthetizing and toning effect on a related zone of the body. Reflex points on the feet and hands are linked to other areas and organs in the body within the same reflexive zones. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural alignment and equilibrium, encouraging detoxification and general well being.

Lymphatic Drainage:
Lymphatic massage helps your immune system by gently relieving blockages and focusing on the movement of lymph fluid in the body.

Ear candling:
A time honored and integral form of hygiene for many cultures including the Mayan and Egyptians. This simple and soothing procedure is performed while laying on one’s side, incorporating relaxing massage techniques to enhance the experience. Typically most sessions will utilize 2 pair of professional length beeswax and muslin cones that taper at one end. The end rest gently in the ear at a 45 degree angle while the opposite side is lit. This creates a gentle suction which removes dirt, wax, toxins, and excess fluids from the ear giving relief to headaches, sinus congestion, poor lymphatic circulation, vertigo, tinnitus, and many other concerns.

Energy work:
By connecting into energy centers I can affect the body’s systems and organs. This encourages balance and healing. Healing touch can be performed on or off the body and is a good way to connect the body from head to toe. This accelerates healing and bolsters immunity. Esoteric healing is performed off the body using the energy centers connected to the soul, or life force. Please feel free to inquire about further explanation or demonstration.
